Today was my parents 26th wedding anniversary! Yay for them, and happy anniversary to you both! I love you both so much and wish I could've been there to say it in person! You are the most amazing parents anyone could ask for, and Molly, Jack and I are so extremely lucky to have you both there for us and supporting our decisions and dreams. Thank you for everything, and here is to wishing you another great year and many, many more to come :) <3
So this morning I got us and got ready for work from 9:00-11:30. Today I cut 150 ribbons (50 green and 100 gold) to tie up the diplomas next week! My hand hurt after cutting all of those. -_- I also worked on the programs for the graduation ceremony.
I picked up lunch and went back to my dorm to eat that before heading off to chemistry at 1:30, and then Hawaiian Studies at 3:00. Today our take home exam was due, and then during class we had a guest speaker who discussed crimes and prisons in Hawaii, and how it is worth going to jail if you are standing up for your rights as a Hawaiian. It was kind of odd, but interesting.
I worked again from 4:30-6:00, in which I did nothing work-related. They didn't have anything for me to work on so I just did some homework.
Once I got off, I decided to go pick up some dinner from the sandwich shop. So I order my sandwich, a ham and provolone sandwich on ciabatta bread with no mayonnaise or vegetables. As she was making that I went over and picked up a bag of original Sun Chips, which proved to be a very smart decision.
I go back and pick up my sandwich, pay for my food and walk to catch the shuttle. It was about 6:10 at this point and I don't feel comfortable walking back through the dark empty campus at night. The shuttle pulled up right as I got there and I got back to my dorm at 6:15.
I was so hungry and was super excited to eat my sub! I open it up and see green stuff sticking out of it...so I peel the bread back and what do I find?? SAUERKRAUT, PICKLES, CARROTS AND MAYONNAISE ON MY SANDWICH. I immediately scooped all of that icky-ness off and got it out my sight. It was gross. I wiped off as much of the mayonnaise as I could, but all of the flavored had soaked into the bread.
Awesome.
I needed to eat something and I didn't feel like greasy food from the caf, so I just ate it. This is where the sun chips came in handy. For every bite of my sub, I ate a chip at the same time to somewhat mask the gross, sour taste of my sandwich. I couldn't take it back because the place is clear across campus, so I just braced myself and ate the thing.
Next time I'll be sure and watch my sandwich being made.
I don't know if she gave me the wrong one, or she didn't hear me say NO MAYONNAISE OR VEGETABLES as clear as possible, but I don't want this to happen again.... :l
I also finished up my homework for the night, and now I'm off to sleep!
Well , that's it! Thanks for reading!
Talk to you tomorrow :)

ʻEha ʻĀʻī ~ Sore Neck
My apologies about not posting yesterday!
I woke up around 1:30 this morning, at my desk with my head on my Oceanography notes/book, and a pain in my neck.
I literally don't remember falling asleep, clearly, and I'm sorry for the missed update, and I'll just talk about both days in this post!
So yesterday, I slept in until 11:00, and then went off to Chemistry Lecture because our Chemistry Lab that I usually have on Tuesday mornings didn't meet. The lab we have to do for this week involves balloons and Amber and I are just going to do it in our dorm.
After class, I had a while until Hawaiian Studies, where I studied for the map quiz of Micronesia we had yesterday, which was easy.
In Hawaiian Studies, we took the quiz, and had the last lecture about Hawaiian Art and we were given our take home tests which are due Thursday.
And that was it for classes.
I then headed off to work! I worked from 4:30-6:00, and I did MORE data entry. It is better than filing though I guess :)
Back at my dorm, I studied for my Oceanography exam that I had today, finished up my Biology Lab homework, typed a paper for Hawaiian Studies and did online Chemistry homework. Somewhere in all of that, I ended up falling asleep at my desk!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for today!
I woke up this morning in my bed, which I moved to after waking up with my head on the hard wood. I had my Bio lecture this morning, and then my Bio Lab, which was nice today! No more harsh comments or nasty attitudes toward me, and even more jokes cracked. Although one of our partners left half way through just because he decided he didn't want to be there. The TA's will take care of it though. We didn't have an experiment today, instead it was all filling out punnett squares and working with an online program about fruit fly matings.
It was then time for my Oceanography exam! Overall I feel that it went well, but there were definitely some things that I definitely did not know.
I only had one hour of work today, which was from 2:30-3:30, and I did even more data entry.
After going back to my room to change and get my things ready for practice, I headed off to the field. This was the final rehearsal before Rainbow Invitational, which I finally found out is actually a marching band competition for 17 marching bands in the area, and we are the final band, playing as the exhibition band! That's why this is such a big deal, and honestly practice was quite stressful. It was raining the entire time, practice went over by a half hour, people weren't focused, we got yelled at for not being focused, and then we had sectionals after. Let's just say, I'm beat!
I finished my take home test that is due tomorrow, and was feeling quite nauseous, so I've been laying in bed for a while with a washcloth on my forehead.
I'm now off to sleep.
I hope you're all well!
Wehi ~ To Decorate
So unfortunately, here in Hawaii, Daylight Savings Time is not recognized, so we did not get an extra hour of sleep last night. On the bright side though, the time difference between here and home is now only 5 hours instead of 6! :)
So I woke up and got ready for my exam at 8:30, and I felt really awesome about this one! I don't know when we'll get our scores back though.
While walking to class, I saw the most depressing thing...a dead kitten in the middle of the sidewalk :( It broke my heart into a million pieces. So sadly, I did not start off my day on a high note.
I then worked from 9:30-12:00 where I helped remove all of the halloween decorations and put up thanksgiving decorations! That was super fun because I love decorating :) I also did some copying, online data entry, and filing.
Oceanography was from 12:30-1:20, and today was the final day before the exam on Wednesday, and we just finished the lecture from Friday; more waves.
From 1:30-2:30, I worked another hour and I finished up what I was working on earlier.
At 2:30 I walked back to my room, changed and headed off to practice, which was extended today. We worked for an extra hour, and got a lot done. It was definitely worth it, although it was hot out at the beginning.
Once I got back after practice, I decided to lay down for a few minutes, but ended up sleeping for about an hour and a half. I woke up when my roommate came in around 8:45, and didn't even know that I had fallen asleep!
My Chemistry Lab is not meeting tomorrow because the lab is a super easy balloon lab that we are all just doing on our own, or with my roommate in my case. This means that I get to sleep in tomorrow morning! :) Yayy! So exciting!
After I got up from my spontaneous nap I studied a bit for my exam tomorrow, even though it is a take home test, as well as the exam I have on Wednesday in Oceanography.
Oh and also, the new Pentatonix album, PTX, Vol.2, came out tonight, and I've been listening to that for the past hour, and it is awesome! It's been a while since they've come out with new music, and I'm just obsessed with this album. Go check it out!!
And that's it!
I'll talk to you all tomorrow night!
ʻIke noʻeau e pili ana no nā mea ola ~ Biology
So as expected, today was veery boring. It was simply a study day.
I didn't finally fall asleep until 3:45 in the morning due to my nap earlier on, but I ended up sleeping in until almost 11:00, so that was good.
Once I finally got up I did some research about this coming Spring semester. I looked into how to declare a minor, learned about this new awesome program designed for students interested in the ocean, me, and also planned out my schedule a bit more for next semester.
The studying then began. I obviously took breaks, and pretty frequently I might add, just to make sure I didn't get too bored which would make the information go in and straight back out without comprehension.
Tomorrow is my Biology exam, which I feel pretty good about, and I also did some studying ahead for my Hawaiian Studies and Oceanography exams.
And unfortunately, that is literally all I did. I only left my room to eat food and use the restroom, soo....yeah.
I now plan to get a decent nights sleep in order to be awake and ready for this 8:30am exam....blahhh.
So I guess I'll talk to you all tomorrow night!
'Aha Mele Hui Puhi ʻohe ~ Concert Band
SPRING CONCERT BAND AUDITION DAY!
So what I had imagined to be a pretty boring day, ended up being really fun :)
I woke up around 7:00 due to the garbage truck, and a car alarm going off unfortunately, but I needed to practice, so I guess it was okay.
So I got up and I didn't practice out loud, instead I just blew air into my flute without making noise for about 30 minutes. I then showered up and got ready, and practiced a little more. I left my dorm at 10:00 and got to the music building by 10:20. My audition wasn't until 11:00, but I had to fill out forms and warm up, so I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time.
The audition was completely blind and we couldn't even say anything inside the room, but overall I think it went well! The sight reading threw me off a bit because it was pretty difficult, but other than that, it was alright. I mean I definitely could've done better, but I also could've done way worse.
So afterwards I just came back to my room. I changed back into my PJ's, and then slept. I fell asleep around 12:30, and woke up to the sun setting! I looked at my clock and it was 5:38pm. Hey, at least I was rested!
I had 5 meals that I hadn't used up, and life every Saturday, I went to theMarket to use up my meals. I bought a personal pizza as well, and had that for dinner.
So earlier in the day, Marisa invited me to go to the movies with her and Nathan, but they were seeing a scary movie, and I didn't want to go because I do NOT do scary movies!
Well at 6:30, I get a text from Nathan telling me that I was coming to the movies with them and that he'd pick us up at 7:30.
So I decided, you know what? Why not. I haven't done anything fun today, I'll just go.
So we saw the movie Carrie, and it was not as scary as I had expected, honestly it wasn't even that scary. There were a few parts that made me jump, but that's it. It was mainly just creepy and weird, but not really scary.
The movie itself wasn't great, but the girl in it, Chloë Grace Moretz is a great actress!
After the movie, we went to Walmart, because for some reason, Marisa
and Nathan love Walmart because we always end up there. The Christmas
decorations were already set out and made me so excited! I cannot
WAIT to come home :) I'm so excited!!
We then came back to UH and he dropped Marisa and I off. We got back
around midnight, and I wasn't tired at all! That is why I am currently
typing this post at 2:54am, and I'm still wide awake.
It was obviously from the nap that I took earlier, and now I can't sleep.
I literally am not tired one bit, but I'll probably try to sleep soon just
so I don't sleep too late tomorrow morning!
I had a nice day today, and I'm glad I went! Especially since tomorrow is
going to be a study day for me. I have three midterms on three consecutive
days this week, and I'm not looking forward to that. One of them is a take
home test, so it won't be too bad, but the other two cover 9 chapters EACH :/
So tomorrow is going to be solely a study day for me!
Well, that's it!
Hope you all are well, and I'll talk to you tomorrow :)
Ānuenue ~ Rainbow
Aloha Friday!
I'm so happy that it is the weekend!
I woke up at 6:30 this morning, after going to bed around 2:00, so that made things a bit rough today.
Biology was fine, we reviewed for our exam coming up on Monday.
Then I worked from 9:30-12:00, during which I addressed letters, made labels, addressed the envelopes with those labels and a stamp with our return address on it, put the corresponding certificates and letters inside, sealed them up and mailed them off! It was a big job, but it was better than just sitting there! I probably would have fallen asleep.
Oceanography, however, was a bit harder to keep focused on and I could feel my eyes drooping throughout the lecture, I did manage to stay awake the whole time though, so that's good.
I then worked another hour from 1:30-2:30 and I just helped my supervisor clean and wipe down the back work station because it was an absolute mess!
I went back to my room once I got off of work to get changed up. I wanted to take a quick power nap, but by the time I got there, I only had about 30 minutes total, and I had to get all of my stuff together, so no nap for me!
Practice wasn't too bad. It was drizzling and overcast the whole time, which made it pretty cold out! And there were about 7 rainbows during practice right in front of us, making me smile :)
We learned the rest If the drill, but it was pretty rough and there is major improvements that need to be made. One of our drum majors flat out told us that he doesn't think we'll be ready so that's a bit worrisome.
I got some dinner around 6:30, and then afterwards I just prepared for my audition tomorrow morning!
I'm nervous, as always, but the music isn't too bad so I hope it goes well! I'll let you know :)
And that's it! I need to get some sleep so I'm fully rested for my audition in the morning!
So I'll talk to you guys tomorrow!
Lā Hoʻomākaʻukaʻu ~ Halloween!
Happy Halloweeeeeen!!
I had a great day today, and I hope you all did too!
I started off my day with work from 9:00-11:30, which was super fun :)
I walked into the building and my supervisor was there dressed as an exercise person with weights and workout clothes, but she had on this big Afro wig which made her look TOTALLY different! I didn't even recognize her at first and she was waving at me, but I didn't know it was her so I just waved back with a smile on my face thinking, "Who in the world is waving at me?" Then I realized once I got closer. Everyone else in the office was dressed up and it was really awesome, and everyone was having so much fun!
At one point, some people from the department came around with the "Treat Cart" for us all. It had loads of sweets and food and coffee. So generous of them :)
The office also had a big potluck at 12:00, but I wasn't working at that time :(
My Chemistry lab was cancelled today, so I went back to my dorm and chilled out until my next class at 3:00.
So once 2:45 rolled around, I headed to Hawaiian Studies, fully prepared for my quiz, which then got postponed! :) instead of the quiz, we made tea leaf lei's! They are pretty difficult to make, but really pretty, when made right.
Then I went back to my dorm because I had a while before I had to leave again.
I decided that I was going to go out with Marisa, Brent and their friend Donisha, who is super nice! :)
We didn't meet up until 9:30, because Marisa got off of work at 10:30, so I just Brent and Donisha and we took the bus down to her work.
I ended up dressing as a tacky tourist! :) I thought it looked great!
The bus ride was terrible. There were so many kids packed into the bus and most of them weren't wearing much, making things awkward, but we finally got off after about 20 minutes on the bus.
We arrived at her work at like 10:08 and had to wait a while, but luckily there was an art show going on right next to it. This man was doing one of those paintings out of spray paint, and it was amazing! The detail was incredible!
Once she got off, we walked along the Strip at Waikiki which is just the main road, and there were tons of thing going on. There were freak shows, haunted houses and art things, which were all really cool! But then there were also mass amounts of people, the majority of which were drunk, and there was not much walking room available. We saw some pretty intense things happening, such as a couple getting into a fist fight, a man getting arrested, and also a guy dressed as Bacon! :)
We walked along the entire thing and realized that we weren't far from walmart and we all needed a few things, so we decided to make midnight shopping trip to walmart, in costume.
After walmart we started walking back to campus, and by this point I was completely wiped out and exhausted! We walked for a while before we realized we were near a bus stop that would take us close to campus and there was a bus on the way.
So we waited for about 5 minutes and hopped on the bus! We got off by the Humane Society and walked the last little bit to campus and I finally got back into my dorm at 1:20.
And man, do my feet hurrrt! I swear we walked at least a good 3 or four miles today!
I had to complete this online homework assignment that took about 10 minutes and then I typed this up!
Sorry for no pictures, but I'm typing this on my phone in bed because I am so ready for sleep, and I can't put pictures when I'm doing it from my phone, sorry!
I have to wake up and leave by 8:00 for class in the morning...so I should probably sleep.
I'll post the few pictures that I got on tomorrow's post!
I hope you all had a great Halloween!
