No school today because it was Veterans Day. Thank you to all of the men and women who have fought for our country. <3
Well, although today was not the most exciting day ever, it wasn't the most boring either. I slept in until about 11:00, showered and got dressed and then tried to figure out what to do. Since I have been cooped up in my room for the majority of the past two days, I wanted to get out and do something.
So I talked to my parents a bit, and finally decided on the mall! You can't go wrong with the mall!
So off I went.
I started off at Forever 21, because that is my favorite store and I bought a skirt, a Jaws muscle tank that I love, a kitty phone that I'm obsessed with, some tweezers and a key chain thing.
Story time!
As I was shopping, one of the sales associates asks me if I needed a bag and I said sure! Then he proceeds to ask me if I was by chance military, because they get a discount today, and I said no. His response? "Girl, let me tell you, you need to find yourself a military man, and marry him so that you can use his discount whenever you want!" I laughed! He was hilarious :)
After that I walked around for what seemed like forever! I went into bath & Body Works, American Eagle, the quilt shop, Macys, J. Crew, and Vera Bradley, but never really found anything anywhere. So I just got some Starbucks and went to catch the bus.
When I got back to my dorm around 5:30, I did a load of laundry. Dryer update, there are now 5 working dryers instead of the 3 that there used to be. It's an improvement!
After my laundry I worked on some homework for tomorrow and Wednesday, and watched Gossip Girl!
And that's it!
I'll talk to you tomorrow night!
Goodnight <3

Makani ~ Wind
So today was a pretty lazy day for me!
I woke up and watched some Gossip Girl, which I'm not sure if I've mentioned or not, but it is my current show that I'm watching, and I am on the second season right now. So I just watched an episode of that, and then I had an idea!
I know that I've put pictures of my dorm here at UH, but I had an idea to make a short video/movie/film of my room!
So that's what I did!
I got out my camera and started filming things in my room in artsy ways. I imported all of it into my computer, and got to work!
It didn't take too long, the only problem was that iMovie kept crashing and it got really annoying. My work would save, I just had to restart my computer about five times!
So here is the final product! I apologize for any shakiness and/or blurriness. I didn't realize it until I was editing it, and didn't feel like going back and re-filming it. It could have ended up better, but I still like it :)
After that, I watched some more Gossip Girl, and also did some basic ab workouts like crunched and planks. In the middle of a plank the fire alarm goes off. How awesome...! So I changed into some normal shorts rather than my frog pi's, and then went outside.
This was quite an interesting 20 minutes of waiting before being allowed back in.
So I get out there and wait. As the students are all filing into the courtyard, a girl walks past in LITERALLY only a strapless bra and a thong. No joke. And she's walking around saying, "Yes I'm in a thong! I don't care! I like it!" I was just in shock. Like it's great that you are comfortable in your own body, but no one wants to see that! Seriously, have some decency. Oh and not to mention it was absolutely freezing outside, with crazy sting winds blowing, which she knew because you can hear the wind in the hallways/rooms of the dorms.
Not only was there a 75% naked girl walking around, there was also a girl who must've been in the shower because she was walking around in just a towel. Like put some clothes on girls!
So after sitting out there for about 20 minutes, freezing my toes off, we got to go back in.
Since my mini workout was interrupted, I was inspired to go for a run! So I know a few weeks ago, I know that I said I was going to have a regular workout schedule, but that kind of ended after like two. I just don't have time anymore especially when I work until 6 on Tuesday/Thursday and have practice until 5:30 on M/W/F, and it is already either getting dark, or completely dark.
So I put on a sweatshirt and went for a run!
After I got back I rested and watched more GG while doing my online Bio homework.
No school tomorrow! Which is really exciting :)
So I'm not sure what I'll do, but we'll see how the weather is. Today it rained all day again off and on, the wind is so extremely strong and loud, it's crazy!!
Okay, well I'm going to go now!
I'll talk to you tomorrow!

ʻElelūs, Kinipōpō hīnaʻi, a Wai hālanas ~ Cockroaches, Basketball and Floods!
Well, today was interesting.
I was woken up at 6:00 by my roommate who had track practice, which wasn't her fault, I was just so tired after going to sleep so late. I slept a little bit longer, and then was woken again when she got back and started packing her suitcase. Since it is a long weekend, she is going home again.
As she was packing, a very large cockroach crawled out of her suitcase, and she started screaming! It was hilarious! We finally squished the thing and cleaned it up, but it was quite the scene. :)
Once she left, I lied down for a bit longer, before getting up for good.
The middle of the day was pretty boring for me, it has been raining all day so the mood was very gloomy.
On the plus side, I got a care package from my parents! It was more of a snack package, though :) They sent tons of granola bars, pretzels, peanuts, almonds, popcorn, cookies and red vines! Score!
I also had to go down to theMarket and spend the rest of my meals. I got some Sun Chips, pop-tarts, cheese sticks and these protein bars I like.
So I'm stocked on snacks for quite some time! :)
At 5:30, I left to go to the Basketball game that I had to play at tonight. The time on the sheet was listed at 6:30, so I though I'd need to be there at 6:00. Well it turns out that 6:30 was the time to be there, and I was there 45 minutes early. Oh well, I got to watch the game prior to ours.
The game was very interesting! We played Western Michigan University and it was a close game! We pulled ahead though and won 78-68!
However, at one point in the game, I realized how invisible I actually am.
The flutes were sitting next to the saxophones, and I was on the end of the flutes. So after half time, the guy I was sitting next to was eating his nachos, and offered me some because he was full; I kindly declined. He then proceeds to ask me if I've been in band all year, I said "Yes, I've been here the whole time." He then says, "Really? sorry, but I've never seen you before."
I just thought to myself, wow. If my light blonde hair in a sea of 250 kids with black hair is not easy to spot, then like I said; I'm invisible. It's not like I'm one to strive to be the center of attention by any means, I just couldn't believe I had never been seen before.
Oh well! It's not like I'm not already used to it; being the shy one.
Anyways, it was still raining outside, it literally hasn't stopped all night, and as soon as I got back to my dorm after the game which was around 10:45, it started absolutely pouring rain and is still going! I have yet to see it rain this much since I've been in Hawaii. It is bad.
I even got a notification on my phone from the local alert station that there are flash flood warnings until 1:30am. That is kind of nerve-wracking because after the experiences I had with flash floods in California with my family, they are scary.
And that was my day!
I'm not sure if I'll do anything tomorrow, I'd like to but if it is raining all day, I don't know if that will work out. We'll see!
I'll talk to you all then!

Lehulehu ~ Crowd
Rainbow Invitational Day!
It was just another normal day with class at 8:30-9:20, work from 9:30-12:00, class from 1:30-2:20, and work from 2:30-3:30.
On a typical Friday, I would've had practice at 3:45, but since today was our big performance, we didn't have practice! :) Yay!
So I had tons of free time, I utilized it by scanning and sending my Chemistry homework/lab that was due today, and taking a nap.
I got some dinner around 5:30 with Marisa at the caf, and then it was time to head off to the band room.
The bus left at 8:00 from UH. We only took one bus, so everybody who could, was supposed to drive themselves there, meaning that they'd get there at their leisure. Well the bus ended up getting to the stadium late and we had to rush to get our uniforms on and get everything together.
We then ran through some of the music, ran through some visuals, got a speech from the band director, sang the alma mater, and got pumped!
Show time!
This would be the first time we had an audience who appreciated what we were doing out there, as opposed to the typical crowd of drunk people, college kids, and drunk college kids!
Having 18 marching bands watch us and look up to us and appreciate what we were doing, was amazing.
From the moment we stepped out of the tunnel, there were cheers from them, but once we finished, the crowd was roaring! It was such an adrenaline rush, and an incredible feeling! :)
I enjoyed it a lot :)
After, Nathan and Marisa decided that they wanted to go to Zippy's and Walmart, so we headed off to Walmart and they bought some things. We then went to Zippy's and didn't decide until after we got there that we weren't really hungry, so we left.
They ended up getting McDonald's, which I can't eat, but I wasn't hungry anyways, so I didn't mind.
Then, Brent and Donisha, who I was with on Halloween, their friend Ryan and his family were at a Zippy's close by, and wanted us to stop in to say hi. So off we went! We stayed for about 20 minutes before having to go.
It was 12:45 at this point, and we decided that it was time to go home. So we drove back to UH, and stopped at the music building to see the Spring Band Results.
I made Concert Band, which is the lowest of the three along with 13 other flutes, but there were only 4 accepted into the top ensemble, and 4 into the middle ensemble, and most of them are music majors and/or upperclassmen. Most freshman make it into Concert Band, and I am perfectly fine with it! :) There are no chair seatings though, so I'm not sure how that is going to work out.
Anyways, he then drove us back to the parking lot by the dorms, and we all went our separate ways!
I didn't expect my roommate to be here, but when I walked in I saw her sleeping, and I felt bad. She didn't wake up, but I came in at like 1:30, so I kind of feel bad. That is why I am trying to type this up as fast as possible so that I can put my computer away, but also to sleep!! :)
So I had a GREAT day today! I really enjoy hanging out with Nathan and Marisa, they are so fun and nice :)
And that's it!
Until next time...tomorrow!

Piha Makahiki - Anniversary!
Today was my parents 26th wedding anniversary! Yay for them, and happy anniversary to you both! I love you both so much and wish I could've been there to say it in person! You are the most amazing parents anyone could ask for, and Molly, Jack and I are so extremely lucky to have you both there for us and supporting our decisions and dreams. Thank you for everything, and here is to wishing you another great year and many, many more to come :) <3
So this morning I got us and got ready for work from 9:00-11:30. Today I cut 150 ribbons (50 green and 100 gold) to tie up the diplomas next week! My hand hurt after cutting all of those. -_- I also worked on the programs for the graduation ceremony.
I picked up lunch and went back to my dorm to eat that before heading off to chemistry at 1:30, and then Hawaiian Studies at 3:00. Today our take home exam was due, and then during class we had a guest speaker who discussed crimes and prisons in Hawaii, and how it is worth going to jail if you are standing up for your rights as a Hawaiian. It was kind of odd, but interesting.
I worked again from 4:30-6:00, in which I did nothing work-related. They didn't have anything for me to work on so I just did some homework.
Once I got off, I decided to go pick up some dinner from the sandwich shop. So I order my sandwich, a ham and provolone sandwich on ciabatta bread with no mayonnaise or vegetables. As she was making that I went over and picked up a bag of original Sun Chips, which proved to be a very smart decision.
I go back and pick up my sandwich, pay for my food and walk to catch the shuttle. It was about 6:10 at this point and I don't feel comfortable walking back through the dark empty campus at night. The shuttle pulled up right as I got there and I got back to my dorm at 6:15.
I was so hungry and was super excited to eat my sub! I open it up and see green stuff sticking out of it...so I peel the bread back and what do I find?? SAUERKRAUT, PICKLES, CARROTS AND MAYONNAISE ON MY SANDWICH. I immediately scooped all of that icky-ness off and got it out my sight. It was gross. I wiped off as much of the mayonnaise as I could, but all of the flavored had soaked into the bread.
Awesome.
I needed to eat something and I didn't feel like greasy food from the caf, so I just ate it. This is where the sun chips came in handy. For every bite of my sub, I ate a chip at the same time to somewhat mask the gross, sour taste of my sandwich. I couldn't take it back because the place is clear across campus, so I just braced myself and ate the thing.
Next time I'll be sure and watch my sandwich being made.
I don't know if she gave me the wrong one, or she didn't hear me say NO MAYONNAISE OR VEGETABLES as clear as possible, but I don't want this to happen again.... :l
I also finished up my homework for the night, and now I'm off to sleep!
Well , that's it! Thanks for reading!
Talk to you tomorrow :)

ʻEha ʻĀʻī ~ Sore Neck
My apologies about not posting yesterday!
I woke up around 1:30 this morning, at my desk with my head on my Oceanography notes/book, and a pain in my neck.
I literally don't remember falling asleep, clearly, and I'm sorry for the missed update, and I'll just talk about both days in this post!
So yesterday, I slept in until 11:00, and then went off to Chemistry Lecture because our Chemistry Lab that I usually have on Tuesday mornings didn't meet. The lab we have to do for this week involves balloons and Amber and I are just going to do it in our dorm.
After class, I had a while until Hawaiian Studies, where I studied for the map quiz of Micronesia we had yesterday, which was easy.
In Hawaiian Studies, we took the quiz, and had the last lecture about Hawaiian Art and we were given our take home tests which are due Thursday.
And that was it for classes.
I then headed off to work! I worked from 4:30-6:00, and I did MORE data entry. It is better than filing though I guess :)
Back at my dorm, I studied for my Oceanography exam that I had today, finished up my Biology Lab homework, typed a paper for Hawaiian Studies and did online Chemistry homework. Somewhere in all of that, I ended up falling asleep at my desk!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for today!
I woke up this morning in my bed, which I moved to after waking up with my head on the hard wood. I had my Bio lecture this morning, and then my Bio Lab, which was nice today! No more harsh comments or nasty attitudes toward me, and even more jokes cracked. Although one of our partners left half way through just because he decided he didn't want to be there. The TA's will take care of it though. We didn't have an experiment today, instead it was all filling out punnett squares and working with an online program about fruit fly matings.
It was then time for my Oceanography exam! Overall I feel that it went well, but there were definitely some things that I definitely did not know.
I only had one hour of work today, which was from 2:30-3:30, and I did even more data entry.
After going back to my room to change and get my things ready for practice, I headed off to the field. This was the final rehearsal before Rainbow Invitational, which I finally found out is actually a marching band competition for 17 marching bands in the area, and we are the final band, playing as the exhibition band! That's why this is such a big deal, and honestly practice was quite stressful. It was raining the entire time, practice went over by a half hour, people weren't focused, we got yelled at for not being focused, and then we had sectionals after. Let's just say, I'm beat!
I finished my take home test that is due tomorrow, and was feeling quite nauseous, so I've been laying in bed for a while with a washcloth on my forehead.
I'm now off to sleep.
I hope you're all well!
That's why this is such a big deal, and honestly practice was quite stressful. It was raining the entire time, practice went over by a half hour, people weren't focused, we got yelled at for not being focused, and then we had sectionals after. Let's just say, I'm beat!
I finished my take home test that is due tomorrow, and was feeling quite nauseous, so I've been laying in bed for a while with a washcloth on my forehead.
I'm now off to sleep.
I hope you're all well!
Wehi ~ To Decorate
So unfortunately, here in Hawaii, Daylight Savings Time is not recognized, so we did not get an extra hour of sleep last night. On the bright side though, the time difference between here and home is now only 5 hours instead of 6! :)
So I woke up and got ready for my exam at 8:30, and I felt really awesome about this one! I don't know when we'll get our scores back though.
While walking to class, I saw the most depressing thing...a dead kitten in the middle of the sidewalk :( It broke my heart into a million pieces. So sadly, I did not start off my day on a high note.
I then worked from 9:30-12:00 where I helped remove all of the halloween decorations and put up thanksgiving decorations! That was super fun because I love decorating :) I also did some copying, online data entry, and filing.
Oceanography was from 12:30-1:20, and today was the final day before the exam on Wednesday, and we just finished the lecture from Friday; more waves.
From 1:30-2:30, I worked another hour and I finished up what I was working on earlier.
At 2:30 I walked back to my room, changed and headed off to practice, which was extended today. We worked for an extra hour, and got a lot done. It was definitely worth it, although it was hot out at the beginning.
Once I got back after practice, I decided to lay down for a few minutes, but ended up sleeping for about an hour and a half. I woke up when my roommate came in around 8:45, and didn't even know that I had fallen asleep!
My Chemistry Lab is not meeting tomorrow because the lab is a super easy balloon lab that we are all just doing on our own, or with my roommate in my case. This means that I get to sleep in tomorrow morning! :) Yayy! So exciting!
After I got up from my spontaneous nap I studied a bit for my exam tomorrow, even though it is a take home test, as well as the exam I have on Wednesday in Oceanography.
Oh and also, the new Pentatonix album, PTX, Vol.2, came out tonight, and I've been listening to that for the past hour, and it is awesome! It's been a while since they've come out with new music, and I'm just obsessed with this album. Go check it out!!
And that's it!
I'll talk to you all tomorrow night!
