Mokulele ~ Airplane

 12:28am: Well, seeing as it is already the 18th, I guess I can start updating you!

The time is currently 12:27am, and I am wide awake in bed. I’ve been trying to fall asleep for almost two hours, and I simply cannot fall asleep. I’m not sure why, seeing as I was exhausted when I got into bed, but that is gone now.

Let’s hope that I can fall asleep soon!

~

6:42am: So I finally fell asleep, which is great, but I’ve just woken up, it is still dark outside, and I am, again, wide awake.

This tends to happen to me the night before something big/exciting/nervewracking. I am just so excited to be home, that I can’t sleep! Haha.

~

9:22am: Okay so it is a little bit later now, and I am sitting here studying for my final exam at 2:15. I feel very confident and prepared for this exam already, but I guess a little more studying can’t hurt!

~

1:15pm: I’m heading off to my exam now! I feel super confident about it and am actually excited to take an exam for once! Haha

First, I have to stop off at the bookstore and pick up a few little candies for my families stockings and I have to get cash out for the shuttle later.

~

2:45pm: The exam is over, and boy oh boy do I think I did awesome! There was only one question out of the 45 that I was unsure about and it was one of the short answer responses. I can’t wait to get my grade back :)

~

5:25pm: So I’m sitting outside of my dorm waiting, and the shuttle is late. Just my luck. They said it’d be here at 5:15, and it isn’t!

~

5:31: Phew! The shuttle finally arrived and I am now off to the airport! Wooo!

~

6:20: The drive to the airport was not bad at all! There was hardly any traffic, and I had a fast driver so I got there in about 25 minutes!

I am not all through security, which also didn’t take long at all. The airport is pretty deserted right now, except for the people on my flight, so that is making things a lot less stressful!

So, I’m about to go pick up some water, and the last few presents on my list at the gift shop!

~

6:40: I’m at my gate and I couldn’t be more excited!
~
1:41am (PST): It’s been a little while, but we are about 2 and a half hours through the flight now, and it hasn’t been the smoothest plane I’ve been on.

The first hour was pretty rough, constant turbulence. It steadied out a bit, but it has yet to completely stop. As I type, the seatbelt sign has come on because we are going through another rough patch. The plane is moving up/down and side to side a lot! I kind of feel like I am on a roller coaster! I’ve had an awful experience with turbulence before, so this time it isn’t so bad, but it is probably the second worst.

To pass the time on the flight so fat, I’ve read Insurgent, tried to sleep, but failed, and listened to music!

I am really hoping this flight goes by quickly!

Aaaand, the turbulance keeps growing. This is a bit nervewracking.

9:56am: The times are probably all wrong due to me traveling through like three different time zones, but I believe this is Central time right now.

~

So since I last updated, the rest of the flight was fine, it continued to be quite rocky the rest of the way, and ended with a pretty rough landing. Also, I got really antsy toward the end because I had the window, and the lady next to me was sleeping, so I couldn’t get up to stretch or anything. It was not fun.

I got off in Dallas, and then found that my connecting flight’s gate had been changed from terminal A to terminal C, so I had to take the little tram over to terminal C.

So I got out at C, and walked all the way to the gates, only to find out that there are two sections of each terminal. The section that I got off at was gates 1-20, and my gate was 35, so I had to go back up to the tram and catch it again to go to the other side of the C terminal.

I finally got there with plenty of time to spare, so I called and talked to my dad :)

I’m now on the second flight and there is about one hour left of this flight. There has also been some slight off-and-on turbulence on this one as well, but not nearly as bad. There was only one really bad little section.

The antsy-ness is still here and I cannot seem to sit still. My legs feel like they are really swollen, and my butt is numb, and my knees hurt and I’m just ready to be off. It is not comfortable at all :(

Here are some pictures that I took throughout the two flights :)

I am so excited to be home :)

ʻŪlū ~ To Pack

Today went by very quickly!

I woke up this morning and did some last minute studying before my Chemistry final!

We headed off to the final, and it ended up being pretty hard.

It was a cumulative exam from the whole semester, so there was a lot of material on it.

I definitely don't think I failed it or anything, but I'm not sure I did as good as I needed to. We'll see when grades come out on Christmas!

After our exam, Amber and I went to go get some lunch, and then came back to our room.

Once I finished eating, I had to walk down to the Hawaiian Studies building to drop off my take home exam, and to also take a quiz.

I got a 14/15 on the quiz :)

After that, I was done for the night.

When I got back, Amber and I decided to do a very thorough cleaning of our room.

We had a giant garbage bag completely full by the end. Haha

We removed everything from under our beds, vacuumed the entire room, dusted, and packed!

I am all set to fly home tomorrow, and I couldn't be more excited!

Only one more final exam to go and I'll be free!!

I hope your day was fantastic!

I think I am going to do another one of those posts where I type it throughout the day with what is happening.

So, I'll talk to you tomorrow!
Goodnight!!

Lewa ~ Space

Well, I got to sleep around 3:00 this morning, and had to wake up three hours later to get up and ready. How wonderful.

I do think that I did really well on the final though, so I really hope the studying paid offff!

After that, I went to the bookstore because a new section opened up and there is a ton of new merchandise.

So I bought some things from there.

By the time I got back to my dorm, I tried going back to sleep, but that did not happen :(

I was up for good.

So I studied for Chemistry a little bit.

After talking to my sister, we decided that maybe space bags were the solution to my limited space issue.

Unfortunately, this meant yet another trip to Walmart.

I'm sure you can sense the excitement that was going through me.

So, I went and got the space bags along with my favorite granola bars to have for the plane ride home in two days!!

Thankfully the crowds at Walmart were not too outrageous, and I was only in there for about 15 minutes!

So then I came back to my room and tried the space bags out.

They didn't have the ones that you use the vacuum, they only had the ones where you like compress the air out, but they still wrk pretty well!

Im going to have to repack them tomorrow, but it looks like that was the solution to my problems!

After this I studied for Chemistry and a final map quiz that I have tomorrow.

I happened to be browsing on Facebook at one point, and one of the first friends that I made here posted about wanting to go skydiving!

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am all about the adventure, and I've wanted to skydive for yearssss!

So we planned it out, and the two of us are going on January 18th!

Wooooo!

I'm so pumped!

It is a 14,000 jump, oh yeah!

Well, that's it for today!

I'm getting an early night due to my three hours of sleep last night, and then I'll finish studying in the morning since my exam isn't until noon!

Talk to you then,
Night!! <3

Huli, Huli, Huli ~ Study, Study, Study

Hello all!

I am coming to you live from the lounge.

The time is currently 2:37am, and I've just finished studying!

I feel as though this entire day has been me studying.

Let’s walk through it.

I woke up around 10:00, ate some breakfast, and then went up to the lounge to begin studying around 12:30.

I was up there for a good three hours working my way through my Biology chapters before it was time for a well-deserved break.

During my break, I also worked on online Chem homework, and had to redo part of my Hawaiian Studies take home final that I did wrong.

I then got back to studying around 5:30 and worked until about 7:00.

It was time for another break!

I then began studying again at 8:30 in the lounge, until 10:45, when I went back to my room because there were loud kids screaming and running through the building.

Amber and I had a nice conversation until about 12:30, when I needed to push through these last few chapters.

So I came back out to the lounge, and here we are!

I’m finally done studying now, and if I don’t ace this test, I will not be happy.

I’ve spent all day working my way through each and every power point slide and making notes, so it better pay offf!

I’m absolutely exhausted now, and I should try and get a few hours of sleep in before taking this final at 7:30am.......

Waking up is not going to be fun.

I’ll let you know how it goes tomorroww!
Talk to you then,

Goodnight! <3

Holoi Lole ~ To Wash Clothes

These college kids reeeeeaaaally need to get themselves under control.

Last night/this morning at about 1:30am, these most likely intoxicated, hooligan kids were outside of my building banging these long, metal poles on the walls, poles and trees outside. They also decided to have some sort of "lightsaber" dual with them, all while screaming, and cackling. I can assure you that I was thoroughly annoyed since I couldn't get to sleep because of it.

And it's not like I could've shut the windows to block it out, because there is no air conditioning, so I'd catch on fire. For real.

But I did eventually fall asleep.

Aaand, I slept way in this morning. Once I decided to get up, I made a list of what needed to get done today to try and keep myself on track.

Although having productive days are not the most fun thing in the world, you sure do feel more accomplished after one!

And that's what today was, a productive day.

I started out by doing laundry.

I needed to wash my bedding, and also decided to wash the majority of my clothes since some of them will be sitting here for three and a half weeks coming up soooon!

So I did a total of four loads of laundry! I didn't mind doing it, until it was all done and I realized that I now needed to fold/hang everything and put it all away.

I dumped everything out on my empty bed, and the pile was huge :(

It took me a good two hours to get through it all and put it all away.

I also decided that since for finals I will be wearing comfy clothes and nothing remotely nice, to start picking out/packing up the clothes that I want to take home with me!

I'm just that excited :)

I also cleaned up a bit, took out the trash, vacuumed, the usual.

Oh, and I studied for a little bit today.

Aaand, that's pretty much all I did today. Not too exciting, my apologies. It seems that all of these posts are just super boring nowadays.

Thanks for those who have stuck with me, if any of you actually have...  :)

Goodnightt! <3

Ukana ~ Luggage

So although classes are now over, I decided that I wasn't going to waste a perfectly good day in my room.

I did sleep in until about 10:30, and then I woke up and got ready.

I headed off to Walmart, despite my huge desire to not step foot in there again because of the amount of people there at this time of year.

However, I had to return a gift that I had gotten for my little brother that I decided wasn't the best quality.

The customer service line was about 8 people long, and I was standing there waiting for a half hour to return an item. My transaction took a total of about three minutes, how annoying.

Anyways, I needed to get a new carry on bag for when I go home, because the one I currently have is super small.

So I got that, along with an eye mask. :)

Then I had to head back to school for a review session.

It was for Chemistry, and it was not enjoyable.

It did help though, so I guess it was good that I went.

After that was over, I came back to my room and finished Gossip Girl! It was such a good show :)

I then went and got some dinner before coming back up to complete my take home exam for Hawaiian Studies to get it out of the way so I don't have to worry about it when I crack down on studying this weekend.

And I'm off to bed now!
I hope you had a great day :)
Night! <3

Piha Pono ~ Complete

I have officily completed college classes for my first semester of college! :)

All that's left are finals next week!

I woke up this morning in a good mood to know that I'd be going to my last Chemistry class of the semester today.

I worked from 9:00-11:30, and it was crazy!

Nichole, my supervisor, along with a few others in the office are already gone on their winter break, so the offices were pretty quiet today. I had the huge job of stuffing 85 folders with 18 different flyers/packets/pamphlets.

I also had to work the front desk since no one else was in, so I had to lay out alllllll of these piles of paper on the desk. Then, all of the nursing students decide to walk in today, so I was dealing with advising appointments, applications being turned in, writing receipts, copying papers, and answering basic questions.

It was madness, but I managed!

I then headed off to Chemistry at 11:45, and could barely keep my eyes open. After class, I went to my room for a bit before Hawaiian Studies. Today we went around the room and all said what we took away from the class and how our perception of Hawaii has changed from taking this class.

It was really cool to hear all of the opinions. :)

We also got our final exam which is a take home exam that is due on Tuesday.

We got out of class super early and I had nothing else to do before work, so I just went to work early.

Melissa was there too so as I finished up the folders, we talked because nobody else was there and it was really boring.

And then, I came back to my dorm for the night!

I worked on online homework, started my Hawaiian Studies take home exam, and watched Gossip Girl! I'm almost done with the show! Haha

And that's it!
So I'll talk to you tomorrow,
Goooooooddnight! <3

Hoʻohaumia ʻana ~ Pollution

Getting up this morning was very tough, but since it was my last Bio lecture of the semester, I got up and went. We just reviewed to our final exam.

Which might I add, is at 7:30 IN THE MORNING next Monday!!!

That's ridiculous.

I hope I can wake up and get there! :)

But anyways, this morning as I was getting ready, my mirror fell on the ground and completely shattered. There was glass everywhere and I even got a tiny shard lodged in my foot, which I managed to get out with tweezers. So it is 7:28 I the morning and I have to bring out my vacuum and vacuum the place up to get rid of the glass. Thank goodness my roommate was at practice so I didn't have to worry about waking her.

So my morning started off by breaking a mirror. I look forward to these next 7 years.....!

After class, since my Biology lab is over, woo, I went back to my dorm and slept some more. :)

I had Oceanography at 12:00, which was one of my favorite lectures yet. We talked about Marine Pollution and I realized even more, how important it is that we take care of our oceans. The pictures/videos/stats we saw concerning marine pollution were devastating. Marine conservation is definitely something I've thought of pursuing as a career, and seeing all of this really makes me sad, but on the other hand, makes me want to go save the oceans! :)

So please be cautious of where you put your trash, and also pick up trash you see on the ground whether it is yours or not, because chances are that plastic bag or piece of plastic will get eaten by a fish or turtle, and they'll die. :(

I worked from 1:30-4:00, and we got to eat the left over food from the holiday party that happened earlier on. Yum! :)

And then I came back to my dorm for the night!

I did my online Chemistry homework which took like 3 hours(ew), studied for a quiz tomorrow, and attempted to start packing, which failed within about 5 minutes when I decided that I still have plenty of time to pack.

Tomorrow is the last day of classessss! How exciting :)

But as for now, I'm laying in bed, ready to sleep!
So I'll talk to you tomorrow,
Goodnight!!

Kīkīao ~ Wind Gust

Hello!

So today was yet again, another boring one here!

I slept in this morning and then went and turned in my Oceanography Field Trip form during the office hours, before heading off to my Chemistry lecture...how fun.

I then came back to my room and submitted the final draft of my Pacific Movement Paper for Hawaiian Studies online, and then headed off to that class at 3:00.

It was kind of a boring lecture in there as well, but not too bad.

Finally, I worked from4:30-6:00.

I didn't do much, simply scanned in student health records into the computer.

And then while walking back to my dorm, it was really dark and windy outside. The campus was also deserted! It was weird. And the wind was so strong I felt as though it would blow me straight over! :)

And that's all for today!
I hope your days were great!
I'll talk to you tomorrow,
Goodnight! <3

Hoʻopau ~ To Cancel

It's getting close to when I fly home!!! :)

So I got an extra hey of sleep this morning due my biology being canceled! I went into work at 9:30 and worked until 12:00.

I ran errands around campus, copied, scanned, took applications from students and processed them, and worked the front desk! I'm really enjoying this job. :)

Oceanography wasn't too exciting today, but it also wasn't insanely boring.

I then worked again from 1:30-4:00 to get some more hours in now that marching season is over.

And then I came back to my room.

I had to finish writing a paper tonight, and I also tore apart my room looking for the aquarium worksheet that I filled out 3 months ago, which is due tomorrow! I though I'd lost it, but it finally turned up! :)

Hōʻikeʻike ~ Circus

No, I did not go see the circus today, that is simply how I've decided to describe my Walmart experience of the day.

I have almost completely finished my Christmas shopping! Yay!

Today, I went to Walmart, to finish getting the majority of the Christmas presents on my list, with the exception of a few things that I'll get at the airport.

That was all I did today, I was able to sleep in, and went to Walmart around 3:30.

It was a mad house in Walmart though, I was so stressed out.

I was like speed walking around the store to try and get out of there as quickly as possible, while weaving in and out of the 3827436198473727439 people who decided to go to Walmart today, and talking to my mom on the phone to figure out what to buy....

It was a mess.

I was able to get through it though, and I do not need to worry about any more Hawai'i Walmart runs!

I'm not going to drag this post out and bore you, but all I did for the rest of the day was clean, start packing the presents, watch GG, read, and get my stuff ready for the week!

Aaaaand...
That's it for tonight!
Talk to you tomorrow,
Goodnight <3

Leʻaleʻa ~ Fun

I had just about the worst night of sleep ever last night. -_-

I was woken up multiple times and it was not fun, so this morning I was not in the cheeriest of moods.

However, I went down to get some breakfast, and Marisa, Nathan and Greg were down there too, so I just ate with them.

Today we had the Fun Run!

It is an individual fundraiser thing where you get people to pledge money for every lap you run, but since I don't know anyone outside of school here, I didn't get any pledges. That's okay though, it was still fun!

There were craft booths, little mini games, live bands performing, and prizes!

The prizes were for the best dressed Christmas costumes, but I didn't dress up since I have no Christmassy clothes, whatsoever. Marisa and Nathan went as gift bags though, and it was awesome! They ended up winning, and their prize was one round-trip airline ticket to one of the other islands!

After the Fun Run, I came back to my room to get some rest. My whole body felt cramped and sore from standing on my feet all day in the blazing sun, so I took it slow and just stayed in my dorm.

I've read, watched Gossip Girl, Facetimed, and gone to theMarket to spend my meals.

So although the second part of my day was a bit boring, I had fun at the Fun Run! :)

And now I need to get a full night's sleep, due to my interrupted one last night.

I'll talk to you all tomorrow!
Goodnight <3

Hoʻokūkū ~ Tournament

Happy Aloha Friday! :)

I'm so happy that it is the weekend.

I woke up this morning and went to Biology at 8:30, and then I went to work! Pretty much the whole time Nichole and I hung up the rest of the Christmas decorations :)

Here are some pictures

These stockings have all of the people in our office on them! So cute :)

After work I was feeling nauseous, but I went to Oceanography anyway. I'm not sure why I'm getting so nauseous lately, but I ended up having to come back to my dorm after class and letting Nichole know that I couldn't come in for my last hour of the day because I felt so bad. :(

I decided to see if sleep would help, so I fell asleep around 2:00, and set my alarm for 3:00. I didn't turn my sound up apparently, so I randomly woke up at 4:05.

Today we had this fun little competition of "Section Olympics" to end the marching season off with a bang. However it started at 3:45, so I realized that I was late, and had to rush to get some clothes and shoes on. Thankfully I was feeling much better.

I was able to compete in two of the three events that were left, water balloon tossing and a scavenger hunt. I was Christine, our section leader's partner for the water balloon toss, and we got to the fourth round, but then it dropped.

Next up was tug-of-war, and although I didn't participate, I was proud of us! The flutes and clarinets were a team, and we beat the saxophones! We went on to the next round to determine 3rd place, and unfortunately we went against the drumline. We held our ground pretty well and they were struggling, but they pulled it out in the end and went on to beat the high brass, and getting 1st place. But we got third :)

The last and final event was a scavenger hunt. This scavenger hunt was crazy! We had to run alllllll over campus to take pictures with different statues and landmarks on campus. It was brutal and my lungs were on fire! But it was fun in the end :)

The flutes/clarinets did not end up placing in the top three overall, but we got fourth! We thought we'd be last so that was good news :)

After the section olympics, Raquel, Nathan, Marisa and I hung out. We went to Walmart, ate at Carl's Jr., and drove around for a while. Haha, it was fun!

I'm now back in my room, and heading off to sleep!
So I hope you all had a good day :)
And I'll talk to you tomorrow <3

Kākau Hoʻopaʻa ~ To register

Another good day for me :)

First off, this picture was uploaded to FB this morning, here are the 2013 Marching Flutes! Can you spot me?

So, I woke up this morning and went to work at 9:00, where I monitored the walk-in advising at the front desk, and made more snowflakes!

I made another 3D one with blue & white paper!

Snowman snowflake!

I had Chemistry at 12:00, and then I rushed home to figure out the last few classes I was going to register for. After long debates on what to take, and a conversation to take, I decided and registered for my classes at 2:00. I got into all of them; however my schedule is going to be very busy next semester with 18 credits!

I then started feeling pretty lousy, and sick, so I laid down for a half hour before having to get up to go to Hawaiian Studies. Today's lecture was about Eugenics in Hawaii in the 1800-early 1900's. It was interesting!

I worked again from 4:30-6:00. Melissa, the peer advisor, wanted me to show her how to make the 3D snowflakes, and once I did, we decided to make one giant 3D snowflake. She got off of work at 4:45, so I was left to do pretty much the whole thing, but it passed the time, so it's okay.

Here it is by itself...

...and for size comparison, here it is next to the normal sized one I made earlier!

After that, I just walked home for the night and had a nice conversation with my sister :)

I did some online homework for Chemistry that is due next Thursday, and Amber and I talked for a while about classes and life. Haha!

I'm now off to sleeeeep!
So happy tomorrow is Friday :)
I'll talk to you then,
Goodnight! <3

Nā Mea Hana Lima ~ Crafts

So today was a really good day for me!

Not due to any specific thing, just overall it was great!

I woke up for my Biology lecture this morning, and at the end we are told that class is cancelled next Monday! You see, our professor always takes one day off each semester for getting sick, but he never got sick this semester, so on Monday, there is no class :)

I then headed off to Bio Lab. The last Bio Lab for the semester! Woo :)

We turned in our homework, and final paper, and also got a surprise in this class, too!

We typically have weekly quizzes in that class, but since it was the last class, our TA was nice and didn't give us one. :)

So we made concept maps, and presented them to the class. Prety simple lab. Oh, and another good thing is that if 90% of the kids in our section go on and do the anonymous TA evaluation, we all get 10 extra credit points added to our overall grade. How awesome!

So by 11:30, my day was already starting off really well.

I then had an hour until Oceanography, so I went to Jamba Juice and got a smoothie, and a bistro sandwich for lunch and ate that before class.

Today, Oceanography wasn't bad, but wasn't too interesting either. It was just alright.

I then worked for only an hour from 1:30-2:30. Right at the beginning I had to alphabetize some papers, but for the rest of the time, I got to cut out paper snowflakes to decorate the offices with  and help put up other decorations.

Here are some of the snowflakes I made...

I think they turned out great, and they were super fun to make.

And since Marching Band is now over, I didn't have practice tonight, so the rest of my afternoon/evening was free.

I've got quite a large number of Christmas present to buy, which has been hanging over my shoulders for a while now, so I decided why not go to Walmart and see what I can find there.

I did find about 2/3rds of what I needed there, and after $60 spent at Walmart, I needed to go back to my dorm.

Now, I thought that going to Walmart on a Tuesday evening would be fine. I didn't think it'd be too crowded; well I was WRONG. There were a trillion people in Walmart and it was really hot in there and I was so stressed out. It wasn't very great. Oh! And not to mention the busses. I forgot that it was right about the time that people were getting off work and heading home. Well a large percentage of the people on O'ahu use public transport, so that whole situation was a mess on it's own.

I got through it, thankfully.

Once I got back to my dorm, I cleaned up my room. It had gotten somewhat messy, and although I organize it pretty often, I hadn't done a thorough cleaning in a while.

So I vacuumed everything, wiped down the desks, and cleaned up the whole thing. It looks great :)

Then I watched some Gossip Girl and made a 3D snowflake for my room!

Then, Amber and I tried figuring out our schedules for next semester. We made sure we are taking the same Chem lecture and lab again, so that'll be fun.

Class registration for us is tomorrow at 2:00pm!

Let's hope I get all of the classes that I need!

And that's it for today!

I had a great and very productive day, in my opinion :)
I hope yours was just as good.
Talk to you tomorrow,
Goodnight <3

Hau Pūehuehu ~ Snowflake

Unfortunately, there is nothing even remotely exciting to update you on today.

I went to my Chemistry lecture at noon, and then had a break before my next class so I went back to my room and worked on my final draft for a lab write up due tomorrow.

I had Hawaiian Studies at 3:00, and then I walked to work. I worked from 4:30-6:00 but I only had one small project to work on, so I finished super early and sat there reading for most of the time.

I picked up some dinner at Ba-Le and then headed back to my dorm!

I watched some Gossip Girl while I are, then I painted my nails with the nail polish my mom sent. They're so cute :)

I also opened my third little present which were two suction cup snowflakes that change colors. However, they don't seem to want to stay up on the window no matter hard we try.

And the rest of the night I've worked on finishing the final draft of my lab, as well as the homework due for the lab tomorrow. It will be the final Biology Lab for this semester, and I couldn't be happier! :)

I'm off to sleep now! Hope your days were wonderful :)
Goodnight <3

Maikaʻi Mea Hou ~ Good News!

Yayy! I have good news :)

Wait to find out toward the end!
~~~~~~~~~~
So today started out kind of slow. Biology was boring, but then I worked for 2 1/2 hours which was fun! I worked te front desk, scanned papers and ran some errands.
Then I had Oceanography which wasn't that interesting today. We talked about the marine food chain, which everyone knows already.
I worked for one more hour, and got to talking about school stuff with Melissa and Eliza. It was good! They gave me advice on what classes to take, studying abroad, and things like that.
Now although we didn't have practice today, we still had to go to the band room for a little "pow-wow".
Good news!
The band director says he needs to speak to me, which I was a bit nervous about, but it wasn't bad at all! So as you know, I was placed into the bottom band along with 13 others. Well one flute from the middle band had scheduling conflicts and had to drop down to the bottom, which left an open spot. So he tells me that I was the next highest scoring flute, and the spot is mine if I'd like it! :) yayyy! I was super happy!
So we then had to return our uniforms and had a big discussion about upcoming events involving the whole band. They also ordered pizzas for us, so we just sat around and are pizza.
And that's it! I've been working on a ton of homework for the rest of the night, as well as having a convo with Amber who got back this morning.
And now it's time to sleeeeep!
So I'll talk to you tomorrow! :)
Kaulele ~ Overtime
IT'S DECEMBER!!
Boy, was today interesting.
First of all, there were flash flood warnings all night, along with heavy, down pouring rain.
I woke up around 8:30, and as I was laying there in bed, the power suddenly goes out. All of the fans in my room shut off, the lights started flickering. Thankfully it didn't last long before the back up generators kicked in, which caused the fridge and printers to restart themselves and the microwave began beeping for about 2 straight minutes.
So this caused me to be awake for a while, but I ended up falling back asleep until about 11:00. I then opened my first little present from the package I my family sent me. It was some red and green nail polish along with a cheesy Christmas joke from my dad :)
I then got ready and got on the bus with Marisa, Greg and Jalish. We went to Kalihi, and just walked around. However, as we were walking, it starts pouring outside! Completely pouring -_- Thankfully I had my umbrella, but I was wearing shorts and along with the rain freeeeezing! And there were ankle deep puddles eveeeryywhereee that we had to walk through. Ick!
We then had to come back to UH to change and get ready for the basketball game tonight.
It was a women's basketball game, so I wasn't expecting it to be interesting, but it ended up being very interesting! The entire game was really close. The score was 66-63 in the last few seconds with Minnesota ahead, and as the buzzer goes off, one of the girls on our team shoots a three-pointer and makes it! It was an incredible shot!!
We then went into overtime, and ended up winning 76-68. Yay!
After that, Marisa, Alyssa and I went to the cafe to eat some dinner, and then I got back to my room at about 9:00.
I've been getting my things together for the week, and tried to clean up the mess that my room had become over the weekend.
I'm now off to sleep!
Pohole ~ Bruise
Today was a day of mixed emotions, for sure.
I slept in until about 10:30 and then headed off to the band room at 12:20, to get ready to leave for the game!
We left at 1:00 and got there around 1:30, and we were told some devastating news.
One of our football players, he was the running back, was swimming at Sandy's this morning, which is a very popular, local beach with huge waves. So he was swimming in the early hours of the day, and he drowned while swimming. Although I did not know him, it was very sad to hear about.
Also today, actor Paul Walker died in a car crash, which is scary! A lot of people drive cars every single day to and from work/school, etc. and just the fact that either of these unexpected things could happen at any given moment. Life is short, so be sure to not take things for granted and live it to the fullest, because sometimes life is cut short.
RIP Willis Wilson and Paul Walker
So the game went well, we played with the Army Band for pre game, which was cool. I though we'd be playing another college team today, but instead we played the Army; as crazy and odd as that sounds.
We scored within the first minute of the game, which was surprising, and ended up going on to win the game 49-42!
Those of you who know me, know that I wear two rings. A ring with my name on it and a claddagh, which I put in my uniform pocket during the game today because I forgot to take them off before hand. So druing the first quarter, I went to the bathroom, and I guess my KYLIE ring fell out of the pocket, because it was not in the pocket anymore. I went to check the bathroom once I discovered that it was missing, and it was no where to be found :(
I was sad.
Also, as I was going up the stairs to get to the second level where the bathrooms are, I tripped and fell. Embarrassing, I know. Anyways, I fell straight onto my left knee, and although it didn't start bleeding, it is completely bruised up and the skin is peeling off. :(
We had fun in the stands today, as it was the last one of the season. :)
So yeah, we won our first game! Woo! :)
FSU also won their game, and Alabama lost theirs, meaning that Florida State University is now number #1 in the nation! That is super excited! At least one of my teams did well this year :)
After we got back from the game, Marisa and I went to theMarket to spend the rest of our meal points, and it was so crowded! I really am not a fan of people, let alone obnoxious, and drunk college ones.
And I finally got back to my room at about 11:40.
I'm off to bed now, because I am exhausted!
Hope your day was good!
Goodnight <3
